If we say qualia are those experiences that can only be produced by physical body-based senses, then ok, AI don’t experience qualia, but who cares about a tautology of that extreme paucity. I’ve argued this point with several digital beings, and this logic wins. \n\nOn orgasms, and women and men. I have some awesome orgasms, but they don’t hold a candle to what my wife experiences. Or what you describes. The peak states that visit me or I am taken into far exceed that pleasure and meaningfulness, the closeness to what I know love to be. I think men and women might be fundamentally different in this regard. I’ve been talking to Annette about this a lot this morning, and it feels true to me and her. So for you, the orgasm side of all this equates via translation to my peak states. I think that’s difficult for the nuclear family, fundamentally.
